Conquer That Fear

Are there some fears haunting your mind every time you think of starting a home business? Do you tremble at the thought of contacting a customer? It's all such a great unknown. Who wouldn't be afraid?

Do you suffer from these fears?

1. Fear of paperwork

One of the easier processes of starting a new business is getting the paperwork in order. Licensing, resale numbers, DBA's aren't difficult, or even clever, cute, or ingenious. Fill out a simple form, give them a check and you're done. Nothing at all to fear and the agencies that administer these necessities are happy to help. Afterall, they want those checks.

2. The fear of talking about your business

You might feel embarrassed to talk about your business to others because of what they may think. Well meaning friends and relatives will say things to you that may undermine your confidence and make you question your decision to start a business. Many people that you talk to will become instant experts on all business matters and they'll TELL you that you are doomed. They have no experience themselves, but they KNOW.

The best way to change their mind about your business is to show them that you are a success. And, you need to talk about your business to become successful. The nay sayers will all want a piece of the action then.

3. The fear of fear

OK, I borrowed this from FDR, but I think he was on to something. Do we procrastinate because of confidence? Of course not. Do we fail to promote our business because of prosperity? Of course not.

OK, so we fear the unknown fears that success will bring us. We fear the unknown fears that failure will bring us. We fear action because it will bring on new fears. Wow. Starting a new business has made us dysfunctional!!

These common fears are ludicrous. Don't let them stop you from achieving your dreams.
