Ideal Day

I love mornings so I'm out of bed at 5 am. The first hour of my day is spent reading the Wall Street Journal. When my family rises I have breakfast with them and then head to the shower.

Dressed and ready for the day I sit at my desk and check my schedule. Then I check email and faxes that have come in from clients. I respond to everything that has come in either by return email or telephone. My office at home is neat and well equipped. There is a large desk which holds my computer and printer. Matching bookshelves are filled with books, plants and decorative objects. All the technical conveniences are there which are all necessary for me to conduct business. I work at my desk until it is time for my first appointment.

Mid morning I head out the door of my Victorian style home for a meeting with a client. We will discuss his needs and I will leave his office with a signed contract. The mountain community where I live is beautiful all year round and I thoroughly enjoy the drive.

I have lunch with my spouse in a small restaurant with great ambiance. The people who own the restaurant are close friends and call to us by name as we enter. I have allowed sufficient time before my next appointment so that we may enjoy a leisurely meal.

After lunch I am at a potential client's office discussing my services. This is a preliminary meeting and I don't receive a contract today. I leave with the feeling that I have impressed this person with my expertise and I am confident that she will call.

The drive home allows me time to reflect on my day. Traffic isn't a problem because I live in a small town. I am back in my office at home by 3 pm. I will begin planning the work I will do for the client I met with today. I quit working by 4 pm to spend some time with my children before dinner.
